Fairmont Jaipur sits a little outside the city proper, in Kukas and that distance is part of the design. Built in 2012 rather than converted from an existing palace, it borrows the visual language of Rajasthan’s royal architecture, jaali screens, hand painted murals, pink sandstone facades, while being built from the ground up for large scale hospitality. Set against the Aravalli hills on 25 acres, it reads as genuinely regal rather than themed, but with the flexibility a purpose built resort offers that a centuries old palace can’t always match.
